What happened to these houses?

by:

I’m a freshman who just went thru rush and love my house and PC. I wouldn’t change where I’m at. But I was talking to my significantly older step sister who graduated years ago. We both went to HS here in Knox. She was telling me that in her time here the top 5 were PM, ADP, DDD, XO, and AOP. When you’re a senior in HS you hear the houses the girls graduating want in. I was telling her that PM (her sorority) was still top but at my HS everyone wanted KD, PM and ADP. I didn’t end up in one of those, I went somewhere else I felt fit me. So here’s my question, as she asked and I don’t really know but am curious and I don’t want to ask the older PCs and seem like I don’t want to be where I’m at because of this question. What happened and/or when did people stop considering XO and AOP top? Did something happen that no one talks about? I liked all the girls from both of those houses. She asked and I didn’t know but now I kinda want to know haha.

AOPi, you have never been top. literally never. Please give it a rest. If you're happy where you're at why do you even care about rankings?

AOPI and CHIO haven't been top in years. Others started recruiting better and took their place, that's all.

the system of ranking and managing each chapter's PNM invitation numbers, deliberately made recruitment more difficult for traditional top chapters. The goals were to give out bids to more PNMs, grow and strengthen chapters that struggled with numbers, and "even things out" somewhat among all the chapters. RFM was adopted across the country in the mid 2000's, but was especially timely at UT because chapters were about to take on debt to build houses. No names here, but several UT chapters that were traditionally good but not top benefitted the most from RFM, while some of the traditional top chapters have not done as well under RFM. So it was a change to the system that caused a shift, not a big scandal or secret or anything like that. And overall it has worked really well-more PNMs do get bids, and every chapter is now strong and with good membership numbers and a beautiful house to call home.
