advice on spring rush

by: help

I rushed as a freshman and dropped by the second round because I didn't get the houses I wanted. I did not know anything going in so I know it was a really poor mistake. I didn't spring rush because I wanted the experience of running home. I rushed this fall and got released of my grades. If I pull it up by spring and spring rush, do sororities note this stuff and will it be hard to get a bid? Also, what sororities are generally known to spring rush? Should I even go Greek anymore after being so embarrassed and hurt by the process twice?

There is no spring rush like an organized thing, it is just COB. Individual houses may be open to offering a few bids but there is no telling which ones. Only chapters who are below house total can offer bids in the spring and insiders who sororities already know get the COB spots. Your best chance at this point is to have close friends in a house who would want you to become a member and invite you to events as their guest so that other members could get to know you as well. You will need to get your grades up, no question, and it will be harder because you will be a junior next fall, but not unheard of.

There are very few bids available in the spring; it's not like anyone is taking an actual NM class like in the fall. Girls who are already known to the actives are the ones most likely to get COB bids. Get to know actives - meet girls in your dorm or apartment, join an organization where actives belong, form study groups in your classes, guys can introduce you to actives and put in a word for you, whatever you need to do to meet people. Contacts are key.
