pref ranking
by: prCan someone explain how listing all three houses that you preffed on your card help you? Can listing all three actually help you get your first or second or is the third just a fall back if you don't get 1 or 2?

If you do not list all 3 on your pref card (maximize your options) , and you are not high enough on the bid list of your first or second choice, then you are without a home. I am not sure if you are eligible for Spring recruitment, or if you have to wait until Fall 2018 to try again.
Also, don't be discouraged if you are placed with your third choice if you put down all three- remember they wanted YOU, and there are all types of girls in every house so I am sure you will make friends. All houses are great at UT you cannot go wrong with any of them!
#2by: If you list all 3
you are guaranteed a bid to one of them. You bid will be the highest one on your list if you are high enough on their list to match. If not, you could get your third choice. You could also end up as a quota addition in any of the 3 houses, but if that happens no one (including you) will ever know.
At the end of the day tomorrow, no matter what chapter, you are going to walk into a pledge class of 60 probable strangers in a house of 150 probable/mostly strangers. Go for the one you get, be involved, and find new friends!

If you did not get a bid, even if you didn't rank all your houses, then you are not bound to an agreement and are eligible to accept a bid during spring. But, if you are offered a bid and decline, or accept and then drop, you must wait a year.
