by:

I am transferring in the fall as a junior and i wasn't sure if specific sororities dislike transfer students. I am also from the north and i didn't know if they don't like northerners or if there is certain sororities for northerners and southerners

Take the high road and go for it. Being a transfer student does NOT disqualify you from recruitment. But be very open to accepting ANY sorority invitation you receive. Focusing on specific homes and whether they will/won't invite you only leads to heartache. In general there are no specific sororities for certain types of persons, so do not listen to rumors and tent talk and please try to avoid this site for real and true recruitment information, it's greekRANK after all (basically for fun and games). I hope you find your true sorority home at the end of your dream...remember it only takes ONE bid!

Someone here thinks the NPC is going to split in two, Top Houses vs Bottom Houses, just because we here on GR think sorority tiers are a necessary and proper thing.

Attending a university means you will change over the course of four exciting years. Collegiate sorority women can be open to accepting juniors and seniors into their sisterhoods. You must bring to their table your best manners, good grades, willingness and ability to co-operate, financial means (not rich, but can you afford to belong) and determination for improvement. Do not dwell on trivial matters such as north vs south. Please immediately contact the UTK greek life offices for important information on signing-up for 2017 Fall recruitment. We want you to make the most of your next two collegiate years.

Most of these people are stupid on here. I transferred from the north and no one really hates. Very different type of people but at the end of the day, northerners rule. Rushing here is so different. You must have a recommendation for each sorority. The ones that don't require it, are the ones you don't necessarily want. There's like 4 that will accept you without a recommendation. So get as many as you can for each one. Each chapter is unique tho. Even if you don't have a reccomendatiln from an alumna of that chapter, you can still find a home. A reccomendation will just leave you with more options and you will be less disappointed during recruitment.

My sorority has multiple girls from the North & 2 transfer students (that I can think of -- we probably have more). This site is full of trolls. You'll be fine don't worry. One difference rushing here though is recommendations. Try & get 1 for every house! Being out of state you probably don't have as many connections here so those recs can really help! Best of luck!
