by: njIf I'm from the north (New Jersey) what are my chances of getting into a house like Phi Mu or Delta Zeta? I know a lot of it is all who you know or where you're from. I was involved in high school (student government, competitive cheerleader, honors and AP classes) and have a pretty good high school GPA.

All sounds great but are you pretty? Just being honest, if the looks aren't there then none of the other matters unless you are well connected. And prepare yourself, lots of pretty girls in the south that know how to dress, do hair and wear make up. Girls will claim what I said isn't true but generally speaking it is.

fixate on 2 houses! That's the #1 way to have a bad experience in recruitment. Be open to all. Some take more out of state girls than others-it's a good conversation piece for the parties. (Not "How many do you take" but "Do you have a lot of OOS girls in your chapter? I would love to meet others with similar experiences etc...) At the end of the day you should be looking to make friends and get involved on campus- and all of the houses are great places to do that.

You have your sights on two very popular houses that many girls want so you may be setting yourself up for disappointment if you go into recruitment only wanting those two houses. Be open! You may find out going through the process there are others you like as well. There are a lot of great choices at UT! You can't go wrong with any of the houses! Good luck!

Go in with an open mind!!! The two houses you mentioned are quite popular so you are already setting yourself up for disappointment. You along with many others will have their minds set on those two houses for one reason or another. I will not bad mouth either one because they are both great houses, but so are ALL the other houses! All have great philanthropies and pretty, smart, and talented girls!!!

The houses you mentioned are two of the tougher houses to get into. That's not to say the don't take OOS girls, all the houses do! Go in with an open mind. There are many great options at UT :)!
