first semester in a sorority
by: fallrushHi y'all. I am super excited about rushing in the fall I just have a few questions! I am a sophomore and I just wanted to get an idea of how stressful your first semester in a sorority may be or if it's not stressful at all. Some of my friends suggested taking less credit hours to accommodate for all the time spent in new member meetings etc. Is that true? Just would like an idea of how much of a time commitment it is being a new member or just an idea of how many things you HAVE to attend a week so I can figure out my schedule/work schedule accordingly. Thanks!!

Hi! I rushed as a sophomore too. You will have a weekly chapter meeting (lasts 1-2 hours usually), new members compete in Lip Sync -practices vary by chapter but most are 2-3 days a week for a couple weeks. Plus there are date parties, social events, etc that you probably want to go to. GPA is also very important your first semester in the sorority bc they apply it to the chapter "new member GPA" that everyone can see. I think maybe taking a lighter load for the semester would be a good idea. Best of luck!

^ I will add - it depends on your major too. A lot of freshman girls coming in will have the easy eng 101, fys classes, etc. so for them more hours is more managable.
