why all the hate?

by: Why

Ok... I grew about 20 min outside of Knoxville. It is pretty much understood for many generations that in my family you go to UTK. Unless you got into an Ivy or otherwise impossible school. But the thing while I will probably get into to both UTK and UTC. I want to go to UTC but why does this school get so much hate???? I want to go join a sorority, have a good time, get an education and learn. I know the chapters don't all have fancy houses and the greek village is growing. I love Chattanooga vibe, it's closer to Atlanta and it just feels like the best fit. Ugh just venting.

I go to UTC and involved in greek life! Greek life actually rocks at UTC considering only 12000 people go here. Usually around 400 girls rush and join sororities and then some in the spring too. The guys greek life isn't as big but still probably has 125 guys that go through rush. If you love chattanooga, follow your heart. best decision i ever made!

It really depends on what you're looking for. UTC is very low key and people tend to go home on the weekends so there isn't much of a social scene. In my opinion Chattanooga is a better town, but UT Knoxville offers the "college experience".

All the hate is due to the fact that there isn't much to do here on the weekends. Being an outdoorsy place is something that's always advertised here, but that gets boring if it's all that a city offers. It's a small city anyway so everyone either goes to Memphis, Knox, or Atlanta on the weekends.

Honestly I would recommend UTK. It is a much better college experience. There's a reason so many people are unhappy with UTC.
