This place is amazing. As someone who has experienced all of the sororities on campus, Kappa is easily the least toxic, least dramatic, and least snobby of them all. There are a few problems, but that’s in every house! There are no sneaky girls who go out of their way to alienate or tattle on their sisters. People that call them “party animals” only know that by 15-year-old stereotype. The whole campus parties about the same amount. These girls are not an anomaly.

Not the nicest girls. I’ve heard lots of stories and I’m sure few of them are true, but my personal experiences haven’t been all that positive.

New school year, new possibilities. They could potentially be an okay Frat this year, but based on their past couple of years, I doubt it. They do not have a growth mindset as a chapter and instead continue to live in their old ways. They are drinking buddies first, brothers next, and then maybe students? Their chapter has been growing large in numbers because they accept anyone... this includes people who's only college intentions are drinking, partying, and "hooking up". Those goals mixed together creates a pretty dangerous environment for women. I know many women who live in fear of individual men in the chapter and even the chapter as a whole because of incidents at the house or by members of the chapter. Some of those men have graduated, but did they pass on their ways? We will see this year, but for the sake of women, I hope they are better and have changed.

I do not know much about Kappa except that they play into the negative stereotypes of sorority women. I could be wrong, but I hear that their academics are not strong, that their leadership is lacking, and that there is a lot of drama within the chapter.

When going through recruitment, I was torn between Chi O and another chapter. I ended up choosing another chapter and loved my decision during my first year, but after my first year, I saw how happy Chi O's were compared to my chapter. I saw their amazing sisterhood events bring them closer together, I saw them kick philanthropy into gear and earn more money than all of the chapters at UW combined, and I saw friendships flourish within the house (no cliques, just a large group of friends). Looking back now, I wish I would have made the decision to go Chi O rather than the chapter I joined. Maybe I would not be questioning my membership status and my Greek life experience..

As a current member, it is heartbreaking to say this, but delta is falling to pieces at UW. Our bylaws state we should be involved in other activities outside of Delta as well, but only about 20% of the chapter is involved in a club, a job, volunteering, etc outside of Delta. Our house is nowhere near live in capacity because nobody wants to live inside the toxic environment. Delta is known for having sisters tattle on other sisters for underage drinking, being at bars, posting photos holding beer cans, etc. I think PR is important, but the way Delta goes about approaching negative PR is toxic. This chapter also has multiple (5 or more) officer positions that they cannot fill and are vacant because not many leaders exist within the house… or the chapter members cannot make grades to qualify for an officer position… they will lie to your face during recruitment because they are desperate for numbers to stay afloat, but I just want to be honest so you have all of the facts that I did not.

VIEW THREAD POLL: Which fraternities should I stay away? By: Anonymous

This fraternity makes me feel uncomfortable and has a poor reputation for harming women. I would never recommend people I care about join this chapter because the culture is harmful and I would never recommend women I care about to enter this house for the same reason...

There is so much drama in this house. I don’t even live there and I still hear about constant issues and have met very few quality girls there (who are my friends and I love them!!). The grand majority, though, are snobbish and rude and have a superiority complex. Also, definitely one of the least classy and hardest partiers on campus.
