gpa for fraternities below a 3?

by:

So, I know Greeks are supposed to have better GPAs. But, I just looked at the USF IFC website and they're chapters with an average of a 2.9, 2.7, and even a 2.5.

My parents are going to get pissed if my GPA ends up like that.

GPA should be better if you join because knowing people who take the same classes helps a lot. The main thing that will hurt your GPA is pledging, so if that is a concern ask about the process and make a choice that works for you.

I don't think you understand, pal. "GPA should be better?" Then why are the GPAs below a 3?

You have to look at the average IFC GPA dude. Just because a few fraternities are slacking doesn't mean the IFC overal gpa is low. Statistically speaking you have a higher chance of attaining a higher gpa if you rush. Like that is what the numbers say.

statistically speaking Greeks have higher gpas because we kick people out who do not meet the minimum gpa requirement to be active ... truth

Over the past few years IFC has had a higher gpa than the all mens average, unfortunately this year it has fallen below that. The truth is there are a few fraternities that struggle with grades, when you go through recruitment ask the chapters what their chapter gpa is and cross reference it with the information IFC gives you. Some fraternities do care about grades, you just have to find the right ones. Also just because a chapter has a bad gpa doesn't mean you have to, kappa sig probably has the lowest on campus but I bet they have a fee guys with high 3 gpas.

Then don't rush them if you think it is going to be a problem look other places. It comes down to if you as an individual can effectively prioritize your time. Grades always come first in college.

OP here, I didn't say that I wanted to rush either of those. I heard sigma chi has like 6 brothers left.

Just cause this chapters have bsd gpas doesn't mean you will if you rush them, you are you and if your gonna get good grades you will find a way to do it. With that being said if grades are this importsnt to you I suggest you find a chapter with those higher grades as they will be more likely to push you to success. And yes sigma chi has 3 brothers living in their house and like 10 total, avoid them at all cost.
