To potential rushees, it's not really much compared to what you see on TFM or at bigger schools.

First of all, some may say fraternities are associated with powerful connections and all of the kids are rich. That's far from true, most kids I know are paying dues with loans or a part time job. Some people may have made a success after college, but most aren't doing glamorous things. Spoke to fellow seniors in other fraternities and they got small jobs in retail and sales.

USF Greek Life doesn't have a lot of stereotypes. Sigma Chi is Southern, a couple are So Fla, and the rest are just normal kids.

Living in Greek Village is overrated. It's right across from USFPD, and they can barge in anytime they want to look for suspicious items. It's better off staying at an apartment since it's cheaper and nobody is going to bother you.

Tiers don't mean much at this school. Lower tier frats hang out with top tier sororites (depending on the guy) and vice versa. You may make friends in a couple of organizations but unity is weak at this school and people just look after their chapter.

Social scene at this school is a joke. The bars, parties, are all lame. We don't even have a stadium to tailgate at and this is just a commuter school.

Other random thoughts is that chapters are smaller at USF like 40-80 so there's a good chance you'll get to know everybody. Greek Village only holds like 20-30 kids depending on your chapter which shows another reason why houses aren't that great

TL;DR:

- Don't expect joining a USF fraternity will help you land a good job.

- Most of USF Greek Life is poor

- Sigma Chi is Southern; the rest are So Fla or are normal kids.

- Greek Village is overrated because USFPD is across from the street and not everybody gets to stay.

- Tiers don't matter at this school.

- Social scene is horrible, you made a bad decision coming to USF. But on the bright side, you'll get to know all of your brothers if you put in the effort.

Southern is the label Sigma Chi has tagged themselves with. In reality they are a diverse mix group, maybe even more random than other fraternities. More realistic labels for EX include creepers, wannabes, geeks, awkward, self-promoters and irrelevant. Definitely not frat. They spend most of their time trying to be someone they never will be. Just ask any hot girl.

I found on-campus greek housing to be overrated, highly monitored and not resident friendly. I expected a lively fun filled arrangement however found it a boring ghost town where seldom was there any activity.

Greek Village definitely isn't the traditional housing found on stronger greek systems. It is usually a ghost town. Off course housing provides more liberties.
