how to be top tier (1/3)
by: USF FIJI
Good evening gentlemen,
As you know, I will be giving tips to the IFC community on how to be top tier. If you look at the top tier fraternities at USF (FIJI and Sigma Chi), you would notice that they know how to:
1. Dress well
2. Speak to beautiful ladies
3. Enjoy a Southern way of life.
Tonight, I will teach you all how to dress well. You need to dress well because you're held up to a higher standard as a fraternity gentlemen. We need to present ourselves in a reasonable manner so we can give a good impression to those around us and feel more confident about ourselves. If you're able to dress in a respectable manner, those around you will respect you and your fraternity. This is the first step in being top tier.
Please view the post to see how to dress like a top tier gentleman.

Shoes:
Sperry - Top Siders Authentic Originals: This is the most obvious fraternity staple to have. Don't wear socks with them and don't worry about cleaning them. I would purchase 1-3 pairs. Popular colors are Classic Brown Leather, New Navy, Black/White, Sahara, and Oatmeal.
Thong Sandal: Very Southern, fratty, and you can wear them anywhere. Of course, don't wear socks with them.
Nike Running Shoes: Wear these when you go to the gym, do community service, or to a place where you don't need to show off how fratty you are. It's important to get "running shoes" because they have a sleek design that isn't extravagant. You may wear socks with these.
Cole Haan Air Grants: If you're the frat hipster who wants to be frat but doesn't want to be mainstream, get a pair of Air Grant Moccassins or Penny Loafers. They're a little pricey and don't show a logo, but they're more durable and you can wear them like Sperrys.

Chubbies: The Chubbies is the breakout staple in fraternity culture. They are shorts that come in a lot of great colors and have a short inseam. In addition, the shorts have an elastic band just in case you gain weight.
Land's End 6" Inseam Short: Just like Chubbies but they come in conservative colors and they may go on for sale for $3-/
Vineyard Vines Swim Trunks: Chubbies sell cheaper swim trunks but Vineyard Vines has some neat ones you can wear during the summer or spring.
Pantagonia shorts: They sell swimming trunks and khaki shorts. Although they're more popular for their fleece items, they sell good shorts.

Polo Ralph Lauren Chinos: Personally, I only like wearing shorts. But if you prefer plants like a Northerner, I recommend Polo Ralph Lauren. They sell chinos in conservative and colorful colors.
Levi Jeans: Get blue jeans that stop at your ankle. No baggy or tight jeans. Other jeans you can look at are Ralph Lauren (more expensive) or Wrangler (cheaper).
#4 by: Casual Shirts
Oxford Button-Downs: They look good on anybody. The best oxfords come from Polo Ralph Lauren but you could also consider Vineyard Vines. Get them in classic fit and solid colors
Polos: I personally think polos are losing their edge in the fraternity world. They just don't look good on people who aren't fit. Nonetheless, grab a classic fit polo with a solid color from Ralph Lauren, Southern Tide, Vineyard Vines, or Brooks Brothers.
T-shirt: T-shirts are fine if they don't have a blown up logo or look lame. Don't wear a fraternity shirt with big block letters like the bottom tier fraternities do. Look at the shirts ADPi gives out for the Mallard Ball or the pocket tee from Ralph Lauren to get an idea.
Tank-tops: You don't need to buy this. Get free shirts from Greek Events.

Sports Coat: A sports coat could give anybody a sharp look. It really doesn't matter about the brand as long it fits well. I've seen goobers rock a thousand dollar suit and looked terrible in it.
Suit: Same thing like a sports coat, it doesn't really matter about brand. But some suits are fratty such as Brooks Brothers and Vineyard Vines. Consider getting a seersucker suit.
Fleece: Only purchase pullovers. The most notable pullovers are The North Face Denali and the Pantagonia Synchilla.
