transfer student. confused about the greek system

by:

So I’m from a school with a huge Greek system, 30+ Frats and around 14 or so sororities that all have giant mansions around campus. Just transferred here and walked by the “Greek row”. Why are all the houses right next to each other and such small buildings? Are the houses wet/dry? (Like can u throw parties in them) does usf just not have much alumni funds cause it seems like the Greek systems are just really small here. Not hating just seeing if it’s even worth signing my house at my old college

Usf doesn’t have a real Greek system, if u can’t tell the schools pretty ghetto in general. Hence why the populations like all international or black

It’s sad, phi delt has the only real house. Snu and zbt also have nice houses on campus but can’t do much because it’s very restricted

The funny part is USF Greek.... the only thing they really do is raise $ for fundraisers. Not bad at all this is a GOOD thing. BUT If you have a small Greek system with around only 8-10 frats whose dues are less than 1000 a semester you can’t do much. Frats run parties, sororities don’t. Frats maybe throw one average party a semester because no one really has a house. It takes money to have a strong Greek system and it’s exactly what USF doesn’t have. The Greek system does good with philanthropies because it’s really the only thing to do.

no one is asking for anything. It's just the current state of Greek here. FSU UF UCF MIAMI UGA LSU any school doesnt get funding from the school for Greek. We know that. It's just usf isnt a traditional older school. it doesnt have a ton of alumni to back up the greek sytem like the typical schools that have been around the 1900s. usf is just on a smaller scale just facts. no one is asking for usf to fund Greek because that doesn't happen anywhere. last time i checked Miami and UF put a TON of $$ into research and their Greek is thriving. It's just the overall picture.
