opinion about fraternity greek life
by: Kfc
May be an unpopular opinion, but I feel like one way usf might start seeing a bigger turnout for rush is if we start to get more fraternities to open at usf.
It seems like in the past 10-15 years, usf has done good at opening more fraternities (and sororities for that matter), but I personally feel that if we start opening more, that would expand greek life to a point to where it starts becoming more respected by the community, and more kids will want to rush because of the larger variety of fraternities.
Yeah it may suck that the new “goob” fraternity will be around, but every fraternity will have their good and bad people, I just think it’s more important that we try to support greek life by letting these new fraternities grow and try to start more.

This is exactly IFC’s problem. There’s an open door policy on this campus: every fraternity (that hasn’t been kicked off in the past couple years) can come and colonize whenever they want.
If IFC focused on building the chapters we already have up to a respectable standard, then Greek life would be better respected on campus and be able to grow more.

I get your point, but it’s also the individuals chapters responsibility to develop their chapter. Im just talking about getting more people into greek life. With more fraternities means more exposure, hopefully for the better.
