recruitment vs real life
by: Big sis advice
Hello PNMs! I just wanted to share a piece of advice: a chapter during recruitment is not necessarily how a chapter is on the everyday.
I’m part of a lower mid/ bottom tier chapter and ngl I was disappointed when I opened my bid because I while I liked some of the girls in the chapter, the other chapter was higher on the totem pole and better recruiters and I felt like I vibed with them more. But I gave it a chance and I came to find that the same women who were kind of awkward during recruitment were actually really social and fun outside of recruitment. I love my sisters and my sisterhood and I couldn’t see myself anywhere else.
Please please keep your minds open, recruiting is a really difficult thing to do well (you’ll find out next year) and recruitment is really forced and structures and doesn’t give you all that great of an idea what the chapter is really like
Trust the system, I promise it’ll all work out!

I’m bumping this but I’m gonna be a little less positive than OP. This also applies to top and upper middle tier chapters. Just because they’re good at recruiting you doesn’t mean they’ll be your best friend on bid day or that they like all their sisters and the chapter is perfect and has no drama. I joined a top chapter because it honestly felt like home and every other chapter I just didn’t vibe with, but now I have my group of friends in the chapter and I don’t really interact with most of the rest. I’m happy now and I love my chapter and my friends, but I was definitely given unrealistic expectations and that made my new member process hard.

This is true for every house. PNMs need to know that they will not be best friends with all sisters, but will find their group who they vibe with. Give it some time for that to happen. You don’t need to be best friends with every sister, but you will learn tolerance and respect, even for those that you can barely stand lol
