am i the only freshman who feels left out?

by: Lil man

so I’ve been socializing and meeting new people one at a time but I feel like I’m so left behind. Like I’ll see stories of other freshmen going to all the retreat and venue parties and be upset. If I don’t have a lot of friends rn, should I rush a fraternity? I seriously feel super lonely sometimes, like last weekend I was being desperate to go out which is weird. I don’t wanna come off as desperate but I’m lookibg for a group of friends who will support me and be with me and actually help me all through college mentally. Was anyone else in my position as a freshman?? Any other dude? Or even girl

Hey! I’m a girl but just wanted to say that it’s still early. Give yourself a break, you haven’t been here long. It may seem like everyone is going out all the time and has an amazing cohesive group of friends but really most people don’t have that for awhile. I didn’t have that until sophomore year tbh! Just keep being friendly and go through rush with an open mind if you’re planning on going through rush. Try to not be discouraged. College can be an adjustment. Everyone goes through periods of loneliness I PROMISE. Even if it seems like everyone is having the time of their lives that’s not always the case.

I couldn’t read your post and not respond. It will be okay. You’ll make friends and honestly even if you don’t go through rush you will make friends if you join clubs, etc but consider going through rush because it’s a great way to meet people and find a group where you can thrive.
