tips?

by:

Hi there I'm an incoming freshmen rushing in fall and I've already talked to people who go to USF and know there are 3 sororities I would consider and am wondering if you have any advice. The guys I talked.to said I won't have a problem getting in one of them (they are all 3 considered really good) but I am not sure if the guys are just being nice soooo I am just wanting to know if there is anything I should know.
I am pretty I guess, very in shape (dancer and gymnast)
And I like fashion so I guess I dress cute and I'm friendly and am coming in with a good gpa, I've heard that will help me too? What should I talk about during rush etc?
Also if I don't get into one I want can I just wait until the next year?

Advice: you can't predict what ur going to get into. Just go in with an open mind and honestly stop over thinking it

Like the person above said, your mind may change once you meet the sisters. That's why it's best to go in with an open mind. With that being said...

During recruitment (not rush), you can talk about whatever-- school, families, future plans and goals, hobbies, values or anything that comes to mind. The conversations will get more meaningful as the week goes on. Things NOT to talk about: boys, alcohol, partying, etc. These are red flags for many sororities. I'm not saying you shouldn't talk about your boyfriend if you have one, but remember that sororities are about sisterhood and female empowerment, so try not to go on and on about your favorite frats or how fast you can chug. Just be friendly and genuine!

I'm assuming from your description that the 3 you're talking about are tri delt, ADPi, and DG. From my experience as a member of one of these chapters and knowing many women from the other two, your description sounds like the kind of PNM most houses will compete for. Please remember that this is as much YOUR decision as it is theirs. Yes it's nice to feel wanted by a sorority, but you shouldn't ever feel obligated/pressured to go to a certain way. No matter where you end up, the girls that you talk to during recruitment should be happy that you've found your home, even if it's not theirs. Also be wary of sisters who will bad mouth other organizafions. You have to wonder why they're so insecure with their own chapters that they need to bring others down.

Best of luck!
