stereotypes

Someone explain why the stereotypes in greek are what they are. Most of them aren't even true at all so if they aren't true then why do people continue to talk about them like they are?

Stereotypes are just a general impression of a group. A fraternity that is considered to have good looking guy or a sorority that's considered to have good looking girls still will have some that don't fit the description. Also I think someone has mentioned this before and it's so true-the stereotypes mostly work for pledge classes. If you look at PC pictures right after rush you can tell top tiers from low tiers, even if you had no idea what fraternity/sorority. It's different when you look at entire chapter. Also top tiers tend to have a small group of very attractive guys/girls whereas you don't see that as much in lower.

Overall none of it really matters. Everyone should be happy where they are and not worry about rank because it's not that important. I'm in what most say is "mid tier" and it doesn't bother me that I'm not in a "top" because that's not the reason I am involved in Greek life.

Not sure I agree that "they aren't even true at all" but sometimes I see people I am surprised got into certain chapters but that's true at every college

I'm not the one who said it but you can certainly tell if you look at pledge classes for the most part. Not saying you can always tell between like mid and upper mid but you can definitely tell lower tiers if you're looking at whole group. To say otherwise is just purposely being obtuse
