how do rankings work

I'm a little bit confused about how rankings work like I seem to see the same thing in terms of sorority ranks but why are certain sororities considered "top" or whatever like what makes them different?

honestly not much. all of the sororities at uvm have nice, non cliquey girls, mix with frats, and are involved with philanthropies. it really is just about which one you click with the most
