Clothes for Rush
by: pnmHi! I’m an freshman at uvm and I signed up for rush, but I’m really not sure what kind of thing to wear. I know that rush is more casual up north compared to the south, but I don’t want to be too over or underdressed. I know that things get a little more formal in later rounds, but if someone could give me some examples of what would be appropriate it would be really helpful!

They will give you t shirts to wear for some of it on the first day or so and you wear those with more casual bottoms. I'd say in the middle you can do more elevated casual like a sun dress or fun pants and a nicer top or a sweater and nice jeans. Use is as an opportunity to show your personality but also it literally doesn't matter. Preference is the only one where people will actually be more dressed up like dressed maybe small heels or nice boots or something. But again don't stress at all it literally doesn't matter. I don't know about all sororities but mine isn't even allowed to say anything about looks or outfits in our rankings of pnms so if anything it could just be a fun conversation point

hi! so excited for you! there are panhel provided shirts for the sisterhood and philanthropy? rounds (day 1 and 2) i’d wear with any bottoms, denim is cute. philanthropy is usually a little more dressy you could wear a tennis skirt. pref is where you wear a dress or skirt. you spend a lot longer talking to individual girls and you’re usually sitting so heels are a good idea. just be comfy and be yourself. for pref i would avoid wearing something solid of any of the sororities colors that you’re going to visit (adpi blue and white, axo red, tri delt blue, pi phi black, theta white, kd green or white) just so you don’t blend in with the girls but not at all mandatory!
