Rush follows this format: day one is kinda just orientation, you don’t meet and chapters they just go over what to wear and you meet your “catamount groups” which are the girls you’ll be going to houses with for the next two days (rumour has it y’all will be getting shirts for the first two days this year, but that’s not confirmed)

The the first two days are kinda like a sisterhood/open house round. You meet each chapter once, and at the end of the second day you rank the ones you want back.

Next day is philanthropy, you open a personalized schedule with at most four houses, some get less it just depends, it’s a little dressier and you talk about dues/philanthropy. Also rank based on which two you want back the most at the end of this round.

Last day has preference morning and then bid day/night in the same day. Pref morning you get at most two houses back, and if those ones have houses you get to go into their house for the first time, if not they usually have something set up in the Davis center for the ones who don’t.

Then bid night you meet in the Davis center a couple hours later, open your cards and run home!!

All rounds except for pref all of the sororities have rooms in the Davis center.

Omg thank u so much for this response! How does rush factor into like the regular school schedule (like when does it take place and how difficult is it to balance with other obligations)? And do you have any tips (in general or specific to UVM)?

There’s a place on the rush application you fill out to put class schedule/ conflicts that they work around! There’s two like “sections” of girls for the first round where one goes around 4pm and the other around 8pm, so they put you in one depending when you have classes. It’s definitely a little hectic but it’s like 4 days of your life, so personally I didn’t think it was that bad! I guess just a tip in general is if you just want to find your group of girls, try not to rush based on ranks or “popular” sororities, but if your rushing for a house/status and party opportunities then maybe keep some of it in mind. Just know what you want before going into it, and trust your gut in the end.

If you want to be on sororities radars before rush starts follow them now! Obviously that isn’t the whole battle but it can be a good way also to get the vibe of some of them. A good tule of thumb tho is follow all of them (including the panhel account) or none of them, that looks bad if you only follow one or two and can increase your chance of getting dropped by those ones
