thoughts about 2014-2015 school year?
by: Mission BeachWhat are people's thoughts about how each sorority/frat popularity or stereotype will change this next year, if at all? With the senior class graduated, I've noticed some of the younger classes either dragging their respective chapter down, or are all everyone can talk about. There's also a few new groups coming to campus, so I'm wondering who that will help/hurt the most?

Fraternities:
FIJI- Definitely lost some of the best of their guys with graduation, but their last two PCs have been great and the guys all know how to have fun. Definitely will stay at the top
Lambda- probably won't suffer that much even though they were in trouble. Lost a lot of their chillest and nicest guys with graduation, but their newest PC has nice funny guys and the junior PC has a lot of cool dudes too, most likely will keep up the surfer reputation
Delt- Lost Yeager and the Jamaica house, so only time will tell. Their new PC has a lot of rowdy guys but they feed off of the older dudes who will be abroad this semester. Those guys being abroad might hurt their image and exposure to PNMS
Phi Kap- didn't do so hot with spring 2014 rush but still have a lot of really great guys who will be seniors (but those seniors are the only ones holding Phi Kap together)
Sig Ep- most likely will stay the same, lame and under the radar. They have a mix of great nice guys and a lot of nerds and weird kids. only time will tell
Beta- will remain Beta
Sig Pi- who knows. a lot of the guys who rushed them are older, so they need a strong PC in spring to help them out or else they'll disappear.
Incoming:
No idea which fraternity is being introduced but most likely they have no chance in becoming big very soon

Aphi- will stay the same probably. Always have a good recruitment. The only issue is that their reputation precedes them sometimes and pnms sometimes have a distorted view of them going into rush.
Kappa- Their new pledge class secured them a spot in the top tier. They definitely have the potential to give aphi a run for their money. They have good name recognition also which will help them this spring.
Gphi- Gphi didnt do so hot these past couple of years in rush. They could possibly get back on top, but it will be difficult recruiting really good girls this time around when their last two pledge classes were mediocre and their seniors are gone.
AXO- They rose this year for sure and i think they surpassed Theta for the #4 spot. Still not super social girls, but they are really sweet which gives them a good reputation
Theta- Their last pledge class was pretty disappointing. A lot of weird girls that weren't as cute as the previous Theta pledge classes. I think Theta will drop further and become lower middle
KD- They struggled a little bit during this recruitment, but they are still new so they have a long ways to go. Their upper classmen are good but some of their lowerclassmen are pretty below average.
ADPI- They did better than usual this year, but they still are the bottom house, probably tied with KD. They do have awesome sisterhood and pride in their sorority so they may do better
PiPhi- They will be new but Piphi is strong so they could do really well

Aphi: Will stay about the same, a top house, most likely will remain very social and hot, but obviously have competition with kappa for rush
Kappa: They wont have any problems, as long as they get more hot girls, they can establish as a real top house
Gphi: Probably just stay a mid tier if they get more weird and antisocial girls, they will fall off the charts
Theta: They have always seemed weird to me, so considering the really odd pledges they got this year, they might just become a bottom tier
Kd: They have some surprisingly hot girls, but they also have some average with a few weird ones too, so will remain a middle tier, maybe become upper middle in the future
Aco: A few cute girls, pretty involved, will probably just stay a middle tier
Adpi: Will stay bottom, I don't see them rising any time soon, unless the new pi phi sorority blows their recruitment

The recent pledge classes shook up the rankings a bit. Here's my take on if the pledge classes are dragging chapters down or boosting them up.
Aphi- same, still top for now
Kappa- up
Gphi-down
Theta- down
AXO-up
Kd-up
Adpi-same
Piphi- could surpass adpi and even get into the upper middle tier. Popular sorority in California
Lambda-same/down
Fiji- up
Delt- up
Phikap- down
Beta- up
Sigep- same
Sigma pi- up

Lambda- They are still top house, but that could change because they got in trouble. They will have to work extra hard this year
Fiji- They still are doing really well, but their upperclassmen are way cooler than the lowerclassmen generally. They could be #1 if lambda doesn't step it up
DTD- They did well this year and have good brotherhood which will help them. They need a really good pledge class to be on Lambda and Fijis level but they are still upper middle/lower top
Phikap- They didnt rush very well this year but still have good looking guys and party pretty hard. They could rise to the top again easily
Beta- will stay the same. They are awesome guys but don't party so arent as social with top sororities
SigEp- They are still bottom tier, but they actually got some cool guys this year! They could rise to middle
Sigma Pi- They also got good guys this year but still are so new that its hard to tell.
