sorority rankings
by: CuriousJust trying to get a feel of the sororities now that we are so far into the semester and yet all seem to have established themselves for now. General GR concensis seems to be that ADPi is bottom (because they always been? But may be on up swing?). Theta got a questionable pledge class, KD is too new to really figure out, AXO are average (and maybe sloppy at parties) APhi are headed downhill/ plastic/ no sisterhood. Gphi also headed downhill, apparently riding on their past successes. The only critique of kappa seems to be they are crazy partiers (which would be fine anywhere else, but bragging about being super drunk on bid day is kinda frowned upon at USD) and no one can seem to decide if they are top middle or bottom of the top imply that at least a couple sororities are above them. Is it Greek life in general that is on the downturn or is everyone just super critical about the sororities in campus?

Greek Life has been growing every year for the last few years. They are adding another sorority next year, added a new fraternity this year, and students (especially girls) are participating in record numbers. Some people like to bash other chapters just to make themselves ranked higher- pretty lame. All the sororities have well over 100 members, so all of them are doing at least something right to keep that many people involved. Fraternities usually run into more issues, but the ones in good standing are doing just fine.
Greek life gives those who are involved a sense of community on a campus where the social scene can be very bleak at times. (Think back to first semester freshman year) Without Greek life, including those chapters that people like to hate on for whatever reason, USD would have lower retention rates, a lower campus GPA, less alumni giving, and USD would not be the wonderful place it is.

APhi (Still top. For now...)
Kappa/GPhi (Kappa rose due to good pledge class, GPhi did just ok)
AXO/Theta (Theta fell due to poor pledge class, AXO about the same as usual)
KD (Still too new. Need more time for recognition)
ADPi (Actually got a little better! Maybe they have finally begun to figure it out?)
Whatever you join though, it's still better than being a GDI.

Aphi- They will be top for a while as long as they can continue to get hot/fun pledge classes. They may not be known as the nicest sorority but they do have a good time.
GPhi/Kappa- GPhi is well respected and has the highest mandatory GPA. They are involved on campus and have pretty girls. That being said, they aren't doing nearly as well as they have in the past. Next years pledge class will either keep them in top tier or break them and send them to middle. Kappa's pledge class was awesome and they have well rounded girls, although they aren't as prominent on campus. GPhi and Kappa are interchangeable depending on who you talk to and next year will determine the real ranking.
Theta- Not the best pledge class, but still very involved and have good girls.
AXO- They're doing better! Still average but cute girls with potential.
KD- New, but doing well! They'll only become stronger
ADPi- They still got some good girls! Bottom, but they have done well for themselves lately.

so true! I would say that AXO and Theta are also interchangeable just as GPhi and KKG are too battling for second house.

To the Kappas that keep self ranking themselves... let's get this clear. You won't top GPhi and you are no where near top house material.

Love these future rankings and they're pretty accurate based on pledge classes. The top three are completely accurate! I would switch around some at the middle/bottom but people only really care about top three.

I agree with "actually". I think the middle tier should be
AXO
Theta
KD
ADPi
And PiPhi might even surpass ADPi next year.
The future top tier is accurate I think.

APHI/KAPPA-you either love them or you hate them, but they're both top as of now
VERY closely followed by GPHI-their pledge class dropped them a little bit but they're still a well rounded sorority with beautiful girls and a lot of class
THETA/AXO- Theta is super involved, but AXO has some really nice girls. They're pretty equal.
KD- they're just new, with a lot of average girls
ADPI- traditionally bottom, but has the potential to move up wen new sororities come.

^ This is what the vast majority of campus, especially fraternities, sees as the rankings, and it hasn't changed much in a long time. I'd say Theta still is slightly above AXO overall. And APhi unfortunately still is thought of as "top". Maybe their new pledge class will have nicer girls?
