A) If you are an incoming Freshman, you won't be able to rush until the Spring Semester, so I wouldn't worry too much about this now.
B) During your first semester, please focus on your studies, but you can also take some time to talk to the girls in each house and come to your own conclusions.

Part of college is forming the ability to think and act like an adult. Stereotypes are a cognitive shortcut and won't lead to happiness.

I agree that you should enjoy your first semester and make friends. Keep in mind that you need at least a 2.50 in order to go through recruitment in the spring semester, so don't drop the ball on academics. That being said, Greek life at Pitt is pretty small relative to other colleges. There are many great girls with diverse personalities and interests in each house so it's difficult to simplify a sorority down to one stereotype, nor is it possible to objectively choose which house is the "best". You will find girls that share similar interests during recruitment, just enjoy the process! Here's a brief rundown of each house, but remember to find which house you connect best with rather than a generalized image:

Tri delt: excel in philanthropy and winning greek events, fun to go out with
Tri sigma: trendy and fashionable, social
DZ: girly and bubbly personalities
Chi O: friendly, lots of chill/indie girls and edgier girls
KD: smart, girls-next-door who have fun
Kappa: friendly, athletic
DPHIE: academic, involved with campus orgs

unfortunately I don't know many girls in TPA or AEphi so I can't give my overview!

Stereotypes for sororitys really dont matter. Find your people
