Pitt has about a 10% undergraduate percentage. Joining greek life at Pitt will definitely enhance your social life, but deciding not to join will definitely not leave you feeling left out. There are a variety of fraternities and sororities to choose from and most people who look into greek life will be able to find the right one for them. You definitely see a lot of pride around campus when it comes to greek life, but it is not overwhelming by any means. I think the thing that hurts Pitt's greek scene the most is the lack of housing and the quality of it. If Pitt had a legit frat row instead of the houses on the hill, I believe the greek experience here would be 10x better. In other words, the students here are interested enough in greek life but the university/oakland neighborhood doesn't really give the students the means for a top notch greek experience.

It's not that important here. If it works for you as an individual, great, if not, whatever. I benefited from being in Greek Life but I know others, even from my own house, who enjoyed it but didn't get much out of it. A select few Greeks are obsessed with tiers but it really doesn't matter to anyone else.

At 14% greek, its not a major deal at pitt, but the social scene is fun and they do have a presence.

Average. That's the best word to describe greek life here despite what some people might say. Some frats/sororities tend to think they're a lot better than they are, but overall greek life at Pitt just isn't that big or impressive.

I love Greek life because it helped me find my people in what could otherwise be a big, impersonal school. Greek life is big for those of us who are a part of it but those who aren’t don’t pay much attention- which is fine of course! The one thing I really wish was better at Pitt was the Greek housing. The frat houses on the Hill are basically dormitories while the sororities generally live in a big apartment (although they are for the most part beautifully decorated). I attend medical school at an SEC school with a beautiful Greek row. Not gonna lie, but when I visited that my sorority’s chapter house, I had a little bit of house envy! I loved my time as. Pitt Greek but if you particularly really want that big Greek experience, another school light be a better fit.
