what's the deal
by: Pi PhiI am looking forward to recruitment and want to know about Pi Phi, I've heard mixed things and want to know going in what they're like. I don't want to end up in the wrong house.

You'll hear good and bad things about every sorority. At the end of the day, Pi Phi is very well liked and has a lot of great girls in it. It's by far my favorite one here and I would recommend it. The most important thing is to keep an open mind during rush and see what house you feel most comfortable at. Pi Phi has maintained it's reputation for a long time, has some gorgeous girls and the ones I know are very down to earth. Good luck! Hope this helps

You'll have to see for yourself. I'm not a Pi Phi but my best friend from high school was. She didn't last because of the problems you're heard about. Now she has no sorority because she chose wrong at the beginning. So you're right to look into it prior to recruitment. Choose carefully.

Pi phi is great, if you're meant to be one. All my friends in pi phi love the very eclectic, not "sororityty" vibe. That being said, it's not the place for you if you're looking for a stereotypical sorority. They make a big deal about not doing normal sorority things (hand signs, coordinating outfits for rush, etc) just make sure everyone knows they're different. I have also heard about all the drama. My theory is that you will know for sure after a couple rounds if you'd fit in, and don't be ashamed if you don't. Every sorority here has their merits

Pi Phi is known for recruiting girls who have gotten really involved at UVA. They have members who are Jefferson Scholars, U Guides, Honor, UJC, and the list goes on. So their presence on grounds is pretty strong since they are so involved. However this also means that often they are splitting their time between Pi Phi and other organizations so they don't have a lot of time to devote to the sorority. Sometimes it feels like girls in Pi Phi are just in it because someone told them they should be in a sorority and not because they actually enjoy greek life.
