Any school with a major greek system like Georgia or Texas will have a somewhat stratified system where the well-connected girls take their friends from select schools or camps, the middle tier will take whoever is left, and so on. Does it work the same way at UVA given that it also has a considerable greek system? I'm going to be a first year this fall. I have a pretty good idea of where I may end up based on where I come from, but I was wondering if someone could break it down by sorority - for example:
idk, Phi Mu (I know you don't have that anymore) often takes ____ types of girls from ____School, ___Town.
Thanks :) If no one has the time, I understand.

UVA Greek life is somewhat less intense/southern as compared to Texas, Alabama, etc. But, some sororities concentrate on things you mentioned.
"Top tier" houses look more at what school you're from and where you come from. For example, Kappas and Thetas usually are from private schools like Collegiate in Richmond so they usher in their friends from lower years. Kappa, Theta, and TriDelt especially like girls from out of state, particularly the southern states.
DG and APhi take a lot of nova public school girls. The rest of the sororities are usually a mixed bag, which is good and bad.

Kappa takes boarding school girls and private school girls mainly from the south, but a mixed bag
Theta takes girls from boarding schools mainly, and then heavily from Connecticut/Atlanta private schools. Also international private schools.
Tri delt takes a wide range, much more public school but also a lot of private schoolers mixed in.

You shouldn't look at it as being doomed. If those three don't want you based on something so arbitrary, there are 12 other chapters who will want you because they like you as a person and think you fit in. Try to keep an open mind about it, or you'll hate the rush process
