and descriptive stereotypes/similarity groups:

PI PHI: most are good-looking, well-off, but NICE for most part. athletic, party for sure. most girls' fave in rush b/c normal but hot.
THETA/KAPPA: have the most private school girls, but not all are. very well-dressed, many are nice but a few are not, majority are cute (esp theta).
TRIDELT: the most popular girls from your normal public (some private) high school. katie couric. pretty, party, some are snobby.
DG/ALPHA PHI: the prettiest, girlier girls. not as waspy, but fun. have a regina george (without being so mean!) vibe. some athletic.
ZETA/ALPHA CHI: nice, pretty attractive, normal really. tend to party a good bit, but not out of control.
KD/CHI O: the smartest. care about class. def do party (more so kd) and are involved.
DZ: known for being loose, not all true! they love to party though. and makeup.
SK/ADPI: not as attractive, but sweet, and do party. usually pretty smart
TRI-SIG/GPHI: sweet, a little awkward

To clarify the censored word, the meaner girls.

wow...i disagree with these rankings a lot...to the transfer, contact their president and go and meet the girls and decide for yourself if you would fit in there

Ranking is way off. Comments are more revealing.

There is no way to rank the sororities at UVA- each sorority at UVA is very diverse. There are more to greek girls than money and looks and I challenge you all to look beyond that

I'm a third year but just met some alpha chi KNOCKOUTS in one of my classes. They were also really intelligent, too. I don't know where they came from, but I'm guessing that because they (and their sorority as a whole?) are not super into the sorority chit chat/rankings/greek scene, they were just excluded. But damn, wish I met some sooner.

This is honestly the actual rating. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. It hasn't changed and probably won't change for a longg time.

First Tier: Theta and Kappa
Second Tier: Tridelt and Pi Phi
Third Tier: DG and Alpha Phi
Fourth Tier: DZ and ZTA
Fifth Tier: Chi O, A Chi O, and KD
Sixth Tier: SK, ADPi, Gamma Phi, and TriSig

I think it is hard to really rank them. Every house has their strong points and their weak points. I think the general atmosphere at UVa is to support all of our houses. We have great students and great pledges. All our houses are strong. Even the so called "6th tier". We have a lot to be proud of!
