sorority comments

#233by: everyone's great
every girl who did (and did not) rush is fantastic in her own way, and regardless of whether she got a bid, dropped out, or just decided it wasn't her "thing" doesn't make her any less wonderful or unique. The process is flawed, but it's not intentionally sinister, and while I know someone will probably disagree with my comment, my intentions are harmless and only to reassure girls that they are GREAT regardless of how rush turned out, and to those who are happy with their sorority, enjoy it! Don't allow the few debbie downers to bring you down or judge people harshly for making innocent comments, such as that they are happy with their bid. There is no need to put down anyone, HOWEVER their rush turned out, ideal or not, and every girl is beautiful and amazing, even if greek life just turned out to not be one of her many activities during her time at UVA.

To everyone's great - the intention of your message is sweet but offers little consolation to those who have been harmed this week. In order for UVA to ever truly be viewed on par with the Ivies, they will need to think like the Ivies:
"Because Princeton social life revolves around the residential colleges and the clubs and because of concerns that we have had about aspects of fraternities and sororities, the University does not recognize fraternity and sorority chapters," they wrote. "We have found that they can contribute to a sense of social exclusivity and privilege and socioeconomic stratification among students
#235by: just so you know
Princeton's eating clubs can be just as elitist as sororitys and frats. They have some that are chosen by a bicker"rush"system decided on wealth, connections and looks and others where members are chosen at random. The Greek system does nothing to diminish UVA rep. My dad went to Princeton and is so happy I got into UVA.

#238by: Happy?
I didn't get my 1st choice. I did get into a good house and think I will be happy. I would like to have some recruiting people share information though. You look us all over, step after step, and decide if we live or die. How did you decide? What are you looking for when you get a few minutes to make a decision?
