To first year girls rushing
by: -an upperclassman
Dear first year,
Not so long ago I was you! Like many I paid too much attention to the stereotypes and rankings on Greek rank, and looking back, I would encourage you not to. When you go to houses, just try to relax and have fun. Ask yourself “are these girls I could see myself being friends with over the next 3.5 years?”
Looking back, yes there is some truth to the stereotypes behind different sororities. But stereotypes certainly do NOT define every girl in a sorority. Some of the friendliest, most down to earth girls I know are ones in the “top” sororities. And one of the most mean, two-faced girls I know is in the “nice” sorority. My point is only that there are good eggs and bad eggs in every sorority. As much as you can, please try not to allow rankings/reputations to bias your first impressions of sororities! Just be yourself and have fun with it!! And realize no matter where you end up, if you keep an open mind and make an effort to be friendly and meet people, you can find fantastic, genuine and friendly girls.

I think it can be a factor but certainly is not the deciding factor. Having a great personality is always number 1
