Who is doing COB

by:

I’m interested in doing cob, how do I know which sororities are accepting cobs and how do I let them know I am interested?

No one knows yet, I would give it a couple of days to a week at least. Reach out to friends who joined or girls you already know to let them know you’re interested, but be careful how you ask so it doesn’t come off as social climbing.

If you really really like a girl and talked to her during a lot of rounds, you could maybe reach out to her, but otherwise it’s weird to reach out to someone you don’t know well.

Can someone explain the difference between COB and informal rush that seems to happen in the fall? and how do chapters decide if they will participate in either one? are there different numbers they try to hit during formal rush vs what their overall national permitted number of members might be? anyways just wondering how it all works.

Each semester, ISC sets Chapter Total Membership, which is the membership number for the sororities not to exceed. Any houses under that number by offer bids through COB (Continuous Open Bidding) to get up to that number. Graduations, study abroads, internships, and drops affect this number each semester, as well as new bids, so right now ISC is resetting Total for spring and then the chapters will know if they have spots to offer. Informal in fall is just COB. COB is up to each individual sorority, is not really organized by ISC, and can happen however a sorority wants it to happen without any announcement that they have spots to fill. So you may not know if a house is looking to offer any bids. Your best shot at a bid other than formal rush is to know members in houses who would speak for you.

Also, Quota during formal has nothing to do with Chapter Total; that all depends on how many pnm's stay the course that week and end up signing cards.

I keep hearing people say they were surprised certain girls didn't make it through to final round for whatever sorority, wonder if that is a "quota" numbers thing and if they still have spots bc they are under total chapter number allowed, would they COB some of these girls? Wouldn't they want maximum number allowed as long as they like the girls and could see them fitting in?
