How do snap bids work?

by:

I know they can be given if a chapter doesn't reach their quota, but when would that happen? and does a PNM express any interest to any of the chapters that have released them (like through their Pi Chi maybe?) or the chapters just look back at who they released and ask a few girls they liked?

Snap bids are given bid day. COBs are usually in the few weeks after bid day, and depend on the overall quota of the chapter. So every sorority can only take a max number of girls on bid day set by ISC, but sometimes their individual nationals let them take more. It will be determined who is doing it in the next couple weeks. People are chosen to go through the process by being recommended by members, usually the new girls since they know friends who didn’t get bids , etc. Stay in touch with people who got bids and ask them in a week or two

There is no "overall" Quota for each chapter. You are referring to Total which is set sometime in the first week after Bid Day. If there is a gap between a chapter's size, including New Members, and Total the chapter can COB to Total. Most Nationals require their chapters to be as close to Total as possible.

Pledge classes would be bigger if fewer girls dropped out during the process because PC size is determined by how many total PNM's remain on pref day

Which sororities are doing snap bids or COBs? I got to house tours with my favorites but they didn’t invite me back for prefs. Do I have any chance, no matter how unlikely?

All of rush is run by a secret algorithm manipulated by the National Srat Cartel known as Panhel.

Students who are rushing are just pawns.

No one knows at this point for COBs, and there probably won’t be any idea until the next week or so. Above middle almost never does them, and even at middle they’re rare and generally just a few.

My advice would be to be happy for your friends as they may be able to recommend you for any possible COBs, and if you have a friend in the house already you can reach out AFTER bid day to let them know you’re interested

Did you get a bid or did you drop out after house tours? If so, then no you can't snap or COB if you got a bid. Your only option if you drop is to for formal rush next year. Just go to bid day, maybe you will like it.

so what does it mean if like two sororities that are similar…. DG and PBP for example..

DG +6
PBP +4

Does that mean DG went in with a longer list than PBP or that more girls put DG first and had to be matched with them to ensure a bid?

It’s by understanding that it could be both scenarios though am not an expert. It’s obvious with gphi has a lot and that’s because they are usually the bottom choice so girls had to go somewhere. The rest of the houses have different circumstances. I just think it’s pretty obvious why the top houses don’t get a lot due to their smaller but more committed PNM lists but everyone else could be for multiple reasons.

Without knowing each chapter's RFM numbers, or which other houses DG's pnm's were also preffing, we can't know exactly. This is because the algorithm does not automatically give a Quota Addition to her first choice house every time. Other considerations come into play, such as her relative place on her pref houses' bid lists, the total number of Quota Additions to be placed, and the Chapter Membership Total of the houses in question.

How is it possible to get dropped if you went back to 2 houses for pref?

It isn’t possible. Unless you did something very wrong and basically were kicked out of rush. If you went to two prefs and filled out the form then you will get a bid. Are you saying that happened to you?

If only one of the two pref houses is put on the card, a bid is not guaranteed. If both houses were put down then a bid is guaranteed to one of them.

^^^^ Which is why it is such a lie that everyone who completes all of rush and has two pref houses and ranks them both ... will get a bid.

Total lie

How is that a lie? If you want both and sign the card you get a bid…if you suicide, you do not.0

If you dropped early because you didn't like your choices, now is the time to reach out to srats to see if they are doing COB
