Fall rush for transfer student

I was looking to rush a fraternity this coming fall semester as a transfer student and was wondering if anyone know how that works? I've looked at the UVa FSL site and saw it said that there was an informal rush. If anyone can explain that would be great!

No fraternity worth it’s salt does informal rush. Your plan of action should be to meet some guys, dirty rush then join in the spring
