Are nova girls accepted in the top 5?
by: PnmI'm in high school in nova. Uva is my ultimate dream school and I want to be in a top 3 sorority. Will I have a good chance? Or are top 5 mainly girls from local Charlottesville and Richmond gentry, plus OOS?

Generally speaking, most girls that end up in the top three sororities come from private schools, are upper class, and out of state. That being said, however, there are plenty of girls from nova, went to public school, and aren't as rich that end up there. My advice, though, is to not be focused on which sorority you want to end up in while you're still in high school. Wait until you come here in the fall and then get to know the sorority and the girls in them for yourself.

I'm in a top tier sorority and we have lots of girls in our PC from NOVA public schools. ppl who went to private school love to talk about their private school (A LOT) so it certainly seems like there are more but actually....
1- if 70% of all UVA students went to public schools then statistically yes there are lots of public high school girls in ALL tiers.
2-a lot of OOS actually have no idea which schools are public and which are private-they hear "Langley" or "HB Woodlawn now HB" and think they're private. they're not
3-ppl shouldn't assume that just bc kids went to public school they're disadvantaged-quite the opposite. my NOVA public high school parking lot looked like a Tesla dealership. Tech, govt consulting, Amazon, media co.- all in NOVA. A lot of $$$ up there.
4-virtual rush was hard on kids without connections to SRATs this year, it'll be better next year.
5-try to keep an open mind during rush and forget about "tiers" we're all friends with girls regardless of "tier" so it's annoying when people tear down other SRATs on here.
