Do you have to attend things like formal?

by: Help

This may be a really dumb and strange question, but in a fraternity are you expected to attend events like formals, road trips, etc.

An event like a formal or something would likely not only take up a whole weekend when I might have a lot of work unexpectedly to do and would likely cost a lot I assume for hotels, dinner, and stuff? (Unless everything is covered from dues). Pretty much I don’t really wanna have to commit myself to worrying about finding a date and making sure I get all my work done for the entire weekend earlier for an event like a formal every semester.
Thank you

It would be weird not to. Manage your time better and use the big events as breaks from school stress.

If it's financial concerns, talk to your brothers. If it's just you being awk at, then...

You're only in college once. Just do the events and have fun.
