did you go to private school and is your dad rich? If not, don’t bother the top tier. They don’t want you

the fact that you ask that question means you aren’t going on rush dates with those top srats which means they aren’t interested in you. get ready to drop

I would say if u aren’t on a rush date for DDD/KG/Theta you have no chance/a VERY slim one. They usually recruit based on groups of friends and connections, so if a girl is from rich area in northeast and has connects to frat guy in zete, it usually starts there followed by a rush date. They are also only recruiting the same people, so if one house figures out that another house wants a specific girl, they will compete for that girl. Hence why thetas pledge classes are tiny AF and dues are high. It’s because they lose the same girls to each other that they rush dated and have money to pay for smaller pledge class fees/higher housing costs divided by more ppl. DUES and social events are high, so even if you fake it to get in and social climb, you might still feel
left out because you can’t afford it and aren’t in the same “circles”.

For aphi and pi phi and dg they do rush dates but those matters a lot less.

For aphi it is as simple as if you are HOT, are already blonde, and physically attractive you have a chance. Rush date not required. As a side story, a friend who was VERY tall rushed them, and the girl she talked to had her stand up and literally summoned another aphi to look at how tall she was when she stood up. Aphi dropped her and my friend ended up joining a top house bc of her uva sports involvement connects.

For Aphi, this generally leads to a toxic culture where you feel not enough since the standard is set so high physically and date function invite=status. That being said, since the girls are recruited to be cohesive, with common interests like communications, nursing school, and spin class is a thing creating more collective unity.

For pi phi it’s more personality, so if you are nice while also being v cool/interesting, hyper involved and/or successful, or are just very funny. Being attractive isn’t a requirement like it is for dg/aphi I would say. This tends to lead to a group of girls that don’t look like the traditional cohesive srat, pledge classes where not 100% care about frats which hurts social calendar, but also very little drama overall/supportive sisterhood culture.

For DG is usually girls who don’t get in above and are attractive. My observation is that dg chicks didn’t make the cut for the others, and also care about status such that they would prioritize dg over other houses that are perceived as “lower” that they had a good experience with. This leads to a toxic group of gals that tend to not be there for the sisterhood overall. DZ and DG are synonymous honestly at this point. You still get the cohesive vibe generally since they are still gunning for the hot girl over the funny cool girl.

I hope you get dropped by everyone because you are not going into recruitment with the right attitude. You would be lucky to get a bid from any srat because they all have something to offer but you’ve closed your mind to about 2/3 the ones here. Who are you to say you’re too good for some of these?

You will MAYBE go to frats your first year, and then maybe some frats you like second year.

By 3rd and 4th year no one goes to frat parties, so if you are in a sorority but don’t have a “crew” then you will be paying to be lonely and miserable.

50% of the experience becomes more about the friendships you make rather than the frats you join.

Also post grad it’s those friends you will want to have and keep long term, rather than Matt at douche frat abc that you hooked up with at some party.

There’s so much more to Greek life than worrying about being “on a list for bad frats.” I hope you can see this before starting the rush process

I feel like 3rd and 4th years go to frats more than first years/second years because they have tighter connections and more friends in frats at that point
