It's 2021. The Truth in Rankings & Descriptions.
by: hoo
Been seeing a ton of self-ranks and catty posts recently. Here's the truth:
Top:
KAT/DDD/KKG
- These are the three undisputed "top" sororities at UVA. Got their reps through a lot of history at the school and national distinction, and they continue to rush pretty consistently each year. Tend to go for the most confident, pretty, social, and well-rounded girls and get invited to functions/parties with frats like Elmo/DKE?etc. Girls know they’re lucky to get a bid from these sororities, and they don’t seem to add to the greek life drama because of it.
Upper Mid: (Here's where things get tricky)
PBP/AP/DG
- A lot of people get mad when they see this tier because it seems as though it’s differentiating these sororities a lot from the Sold Mid sororities, which shouldn’t be the case. Based on a wholistic approach, these sororities are different from Solid Mid for a few reasons. While PBP has a longstanding history at the school and they have a lot of fun girls, their overall personality tends to differ from the top 3 and places them into a tier of their own. AP gets a lot of hate on here for the self-ranking and cattiness, but like all sororities, there are some gems. They do, however, tend to be a bit more looks/material focused, but both AP and DG’s chapters were established the same year and definitely have some history. DG has a more “girl next door vibe” and some argue that they’re slipping, but while the girls aren’t always the super stand-outs, they’re pretty well-rounded as a whole.
Mid: (Here’s where things get even trickier)
AXO/XO/DZ/ZTA
- These are the Solid Mid sororities, and some argue that DG can be placed in this group too at times. The ranks within this tier can vary a lot, because these sororities are sort of a mixed-bag of personalities, but overall, the girls can be really fun, really chill, and like all sororites, there are some girls to just avoid. They’re not the very “top” at UVA, but they’re still involved nonetheless. There’s a lot of drama that circulates among these sororities, but that’s really just because they’re pretty similar at times and recruit within the same range of girls. A lot of self-ranking too, which can come across as slight social-climbing, but looking past that, they can be fun girls, depending on the individual, who party with other Solid Mid frats.
Low:
SK/ADPi
- These girls are usually the ones that you wouldn’t really think of as typical “sorority girls.” They can be really chill, really nice, and sometimes even underrated, but they all seem to be fine with where they stand (granted, there are some who self-rank a lot sometimes). Despite the occasional self-rankings, these girls could be on the rise in the next decade if they continue getting solid PC’s like ADPi this year. These girls know how to have fun, but keep it more low-key, and sometimes are a bit on the quieter side. Pretty great once you get to know them.
Lower:
SSS/KD/GPB
- Whether it’s how new the sorority is on campus or just their overall relevance, these sororities tend to be ranked lower, but that doesn’t mean that these girls aren’t really great people who haven’t found their sisterhood. If you want a really classic sorority experience that focuses on sorority pride and sisterhood, you could probably truly find it among these girls. They have a bit of a tougher time with recruitment based on the natural ranking of things, but could always surprise the Greek community and be on the rise. Nice girls who aren’t necessa

They can start by calling themselves what they actually are (Panhellenic) and following the National rules. Maybe then other new chapters will actually want to come here …… the lack of organization on isc exec year after year speaks volumes when no ones nationals wants anything to do with UVA.
