how competitive is informal/ formal as a 2nd year?

by: M

I know there's some kind of "second year quota" or something but I feel like they exaggerate that a lot. Although a lot of chapters seemed to take a decent amount of second years this year... Also, is it better to do informal in fall or wait to do formal again in spring?

the “second year quota” basically work the same as how they take first years. sororities shoot to have a certain number of first years in their pc and they will also have a goal for upperclassmen that depends on how many of them are rushing! essentially, you’re not competing with first years during rush again

I would definitely try informal first. You join a whole semester earlier and that way you get to join a pc of people primarily your year that you most likely already know some of or can get close to. Unless there’s a specific sorority that you really really want that’s not doing informal, do informal. Especially cause there’s no guarantee you get a bid from the one you really like during formal.

if that doesn’t work out, definitely try formal! you’d rather go through and try it then be said watching everyone on bid day wishing you had.
