am i eligible?

Hey, I hope to be coming to UVA for a year abroad this August from New Zealand. Would I be eligible to join a sorority, even if I'm only at UVA for a year?

I think as long as you’re not considered a first year then yes, you could probably do informal in the fall. Not sure it would be worth it to do formal in the spring.

You are eligible, but honestly, it would be hard for you because you would not be staying around. Sororities want members for years, not one year, but it's maybe not entirely out of the question - informal in the fall is your only shot. No house is going to give a spot in their January quota to someone who would initiate and then leave unless they are really, really hard up. It's nothing personal.

Just tell them you're an international student. Don't mention the study abroad. Anyway, you might change your mind and stay.
