My friend is in a sorority and said that her chapter doesn't know if they are doing them yet, so maybe none of the sororities know. Give it a couple of days, bids were opened less than a day ago, the sororities and ISC probably need time to go over the numbers and stuff. But maybe reach out to you fave and let them know you're interested anyway?

Some know and some are still deciding. Reach out to your favorites and maybe a few others if you think they'd be fun enough or likely to have spots, even if you didn't love them at first. The new pledge class might be mostly your friends, or not, but those pledges are something to keep in mind.

They already started for most houses who only had a few bids under still to give under COB. They have a motivation to get it done quickly since everyone is exhausted from formal recruitment and they want the COB biddies to bond with the rest of the PC.

If you haven't already been contacted, then contact the recruitment chairs or just sisters you know to have them put you on the list. ASAP

I don’t think this is correct because I went to the office of fraternity and sorority life and they said they didn’t know how many and which sororities were doing cobs.

This sounds so unorganized. It’s like you have this incredibly structured and regulated formal recruitment then after bid day it’s a free for all with no one knowing anything. Very poorly managed.

The office of fraternity and sorority life doesn't necessarily know if houses are actively offering bids. It's solely up to the individual houses and all the sororities need do is report who accepts bids. Houses can just reach out to individuals and offer some bids, which is how it usually happens when they are only handing out a few. If you have initiated friends in a house you are interested in, try reaching out to them.

by initiated friends, do you mean friends in the new pc or the older girls?

Initiated means they are initiated sisters, who have voting privileges, ie the older members. New members (pledges) don't really have much/any influence, but they might be able to get you into an event to meet the actual decision makers.

Contact a few houses now and if you know a new or old sister, say so. Follow up quickly if you don’t hear back today or tomorrow. You might want to try more than just your top two or three places too. Good luck!

COB is more like fraternity rush. Show your interest and find a good fit. No BS, no drama

With formal recruitment, you want to stand out. With COB, try to just fit in.

So simply put! Thank you! If only I had thought of it like that before rush, it might have worked out differently for me.
