pnms: heads' up!

This is the point in rush where many girls get discouraged - they've had heavy cuts, maybe they only have a couple of houses left and they may question staying in rush. Or at least feel worried about the odds of getting into a sorority.
Remember - it only takes one house to get a bid. I've known girls who were down to 3-4 houses at this point who stuck it out and found a house they loved. Some only had one house for pref. Quite candidly, that was me a few years ago. This sounds melodramatic now, but that was a dark day and I almost dropped out. I am glad I chose to finish the process and run home on bid day.
Don't take the cuts personally - it's a numbers game and there are so many factors that play into cuts, many that you won't understand until you're an active and go through rush.
Lastly - remember this: if you have only a few houses, you can show up more relaxed, rested, and focused because your schedule will be less hectic. You can let those houses know - in a casual, happy way (not desperate) how excited you are to be back at their party. Focus on having fun and connecting with each girl you meet. Show up confident and assured.
Most of all, keep a good attitude - you can find a home you love -- and if you're not wild about the houses you have at the end - GIVE THEM A CHANCE! I know so many girls who pledge a house they're unsure about and end up loving it.
Wishing you all the best of luck!

My younger sister is in a "mid-tier" sorority according to this site. Her room-mate first year almost dropped in prefs because her call backs were "lower" tiers. They were both dropped from their initial favorites early on. You know what? Their social media pages are filled with pictures of them loving life in their sororities. They aren't in the "top" sororities but are having a great time, making great friends, and couldn't be happier. A second year girl we know from our neighborhood dropped when she didn't get a call back to the house she really wanted last year and regretted it later; she's rushing again with an open mind. Do you care more about the letters on a t-shirt or about having fun and making friends? Don't let this site dissuade you from joining the sorority that wants you. It's a little like college searches- you land where you're meant to be. Good luck!
