system
by: perspectiveWe all hear “trust the system.” Did anyone who is now a sister here got dropped from a house/houses that, knowing all that you know now, confuses you? Like did you get dropped from a house you totally could have fit in? Or did you get cut from a house that less prestigious than the one you now belong to?

not to scare incoming pnms, but "trust the system" is complete bs. i was dropped from every house except one during recruitment, but i gave that house a chance because i wanted to believe there was a reason they were interested in me and they must know i would be a good fit. i did not fit in with that sorority at all, and deactivated after a semester. after getting to know girls in the other houses that dropped me better, i am confident i would have been a better fit in a few other places (not necessarily houses that are better ranked, just a better fit for my personality). don't trust the system, trust your gut!

I rushed (and dropped!) twice before getting a COB (continuous open bid) from my chapter. It sucked. It honestly is a really arbitrary system and depends almost entirely on who you talk to during the first couple rounds and how well you vibe. It is so hard for PNMs as well as sorority women to decide which people they'd like to see again after talking for just a few minutes. My biggest advice is try to be confident and open with whoever you're talking to! You don't have to be the most interesting person on the planet, but being engaged and trying to at least hold an interesting conversation will make you memorable and they'll want to hear more.
