PNMs need more options and better options. How can we get good sororities like Phi Mu to come to UVA?

What makes a sorority good? Reputation? Reputation of sororities really vary depending on what school you go to. For example, althuogh Kappa is "top tier" here, they are "bad" at other schools like Alabama. It is very difficult to start a sorority at a university, for starters. On top of that, to attract "good" girls is an even larger hurdle as people don't want to take a chance when there are established sororities that are already reputable and connected to alum. If you want proof, look at Tri Sig and SDT. It really annoys me that many PNMs drop every year and claim that "all they have left" are "bottom tier"options so they'd rather have no greek affiliation. In the same breath, they wish there were more "good" sororities to choose from. Like, come on, come down from the high horse. If everyone was like that, no sororities would exist. Believe in yourself and if you think youre too good for a sorority, maybe put it upon yourself to make the most of a situation and "better" the sorority you were placed with

You must not know anything about SEC sororities if you think kappa is bad at Alabama. Arguably the top house

ISC won't let a new sorority come to UVA until a current sorority fails (or gets kicked off). That's why they limit choices.

Phi Mu has a much stronger national reputation than either SSS or SDT. I think they'd do well.

Unfortunately SDT is not doing very well... I personally wish them the best and hope they can turn it around over the next few years! But if they can't and have to leave, then maybe the ISC will consider adding another sorority. It doesn't make sense to add another one while one is struggling

Why get annoyed at PNM's? If they are coming on this site - which is full of fake news- most of what they see are the " lower tiers " getting slammed and if anyone tries to defend a " lower tier " they are accused of being in that sorority. How many new ranking posts just popped up in the last 2 days? "Lower mid and low tiers" do not benefit from comments on here. Kudos to those girls who did take a chance and fill the pc's of some of the so-called "less desirable " sororities.

It's not actually ISC who won't let a new sorority come on grounds, it's the National Panhellenic Conference, because it tries to help the existing chapters thrive before adding new chapters. Phi Mu and AOP were both at UVA and closed. I don't know which has "first dibs" to recolonize. Another barrier to recolonizing is not having a house. You can't be competitive at UVA without a house and finding a suitable house would be difficult and expensive. So some NPC groups would not choose to colonize/recolonize under those conditions.

there has to be bad sororities for there to be good ones. If the bottom ones were gone and replaced with “better” ones, there would just be a new bottom.

Also any new sorority is going to be bottom tier for at least a couple of years for obvious reasons

Pretty sure Phi Mu still owns its house.

Phi Mu closed in 2007 and AOPI in 1997. Would be a good thing if they still owned their house!
