No need to restate the obvious, but this IS where mean girls go to broadcast opinions that they believe to be anonymous and in their own best interest. So take everything you read with a grain of salt.

Every single chapter on Grounds has participated in informal recruitment. Every. Single. Chapter.
That is what a colonizing recruitment is.

The entire formal recruitment process is difficult for most. It can be very hard to have meaningful conversations in the few minutes that PMNs and actives have together. It can be very difficult for a PMN to get an accurate picture of the character of a chapter considering how few members she actually meets. Some chapters are stronger at formal recruitment than others. Some chapters rely on pre-recruitment (aka dirty rushing) PMNs that they already know from their hometown, high school, church, summer camp, which can have positive or negative consequences. Dirty rushing helps a chapter that may be less successful during formal recruitment fill their total membership and make their financial obligations like mortgages. But dirty rushing can allow a small minority of more dominate actives take the chapter in a direction that may not benefit its overall strength.

There are women of substance in every single chapter at UVA. There are mean girls in every single chapter. That is life.

So if you are offered a snap bid today, or plan to do informal recruitment-best of luck to you. You can find a good experience in every single chapter, and it IS what you make of it.
