snap bids and cob
by: hoo#3by: M
Snap bids are given bid day, so you would know by now. COVs are usually in the few weeks after bid day, and depend on the overall quota of the chapter. So every sorority can only take a max number of girls on bid day set by ISC, but sometimes their individual nationals let them take more. It will be determined who is doing it in the next couple weeks. People are chosen to go through the process by being recommended by members, usually the new girls since they know friends who didn’t get bids , etc. Stay in touch with people who got bids and ask them in a week or two.

If you are interested in receiving a COB, please call or drop by ISC and let them know asap. That way they can pass your name along to the houses that will still be offering bids. ALSO, if you have classmates and pals in sororities, tell them you are interested in COB-ing and ask them if they can pass your name along to their networks. The main thing is get the word out you are interested! Good luck.

First off: don't worry!! You'll find your place here, whether that's in a sorority or not.
A huge number of girls end up dropping from rush, it's a lot more common than is advertised. As someone on the other side, don't take it too personally. It's all a numbers game and factors like connections to girls in the chapter, legacies, etc. can let some great girls fall through the cracks.
If you're still determined to join a sorority then hope for a COB. A bunch of houses do them even if they hit quota (they just want to grow their number beyond quota). If you want to take matters into your own hands, reach out to any sister or new member at the houses that you had left in the later rounds of rush and express some interest in a COB.
If that doesn't work out, there's still informal and lots of great houses do that too. Last year I believe SK, AXO, Tri Sig, Zeta, SDT, and Gamma Phi did it (I'm not positive about these though).

I have a contact on the ISC who told me that the ISC is setting a higher total this year and ALL except 1 sorority are doing COB's. I'm sure many have already started and some are done, but this should give y'all hope. I've heard that telling the ISC that you are interested in COB can help and you should definitely contact anyone you know in the sororities you're interested in. Good luck!
