It's complicated and kinda depends on your situation. Your pi chi will tell you not to but I know a lot of girls who did and were glad they did. Some got snap bids from sororities they liked on bid day, others got bids through COB and others waited for informal and were happy they waited.

I think "yep" meant cross matching.
Please talk to your Pi Chi to get the most accurate information, don't take advice from someone who isnt 100% sure of what she is telling you.
Per NPC guidelines, signing your Bid Card is a contract. If you get a bid and you change your mind, and "don't accept the bid" you have to wait 365 calendar days to accept a bid from another sorority. You are not eligible for COB, Continuous Open Bidding, for an entire year, nor are you eligible for Informal Recruitment in the Fall. So, yes, turning down a bid is serious business.
Again, please talk to your Pi Chi to run through the various scenarios of what will happen if you "Suicide" and don't match.
Good luck!

Question--the same rules apply as for not accepting a bid. You have to wait one calendar year to join another NPC sorority. At this point, girls are usually pretty conflicted about the sorority experience and because of the time issues involved never end up joining another sorority. Once you are initated, you, of course, may never join another sorority.

I strongly encourage PNMs not to suicide bid. Putting two chapters down is the only way to recommend that you will get a bid on bid day. Do not rely on snap bids. They are so rare. If a sorority does give a snap bid, it’s usually only one or two. And to get a snap bid, you need to be the next person on their bid list or have very close friends in the chapter. Yes, you cannot participate in informal if you accept a bid, but you never know which chapters will be participating in informal anyways. It’s always a toss-up. COBs are also not common to upper tier sororities. It is more difficult to join a sorority as a second year as well. Bid day for everyone is very fun, and it is worth it to try out a sorority that you are not sure about. You may find yourself really liking it. Good luck!
