The top houses have less guys rush them because dirty rushing in the fall. You need to know a lot of guys in the house and fit their mold to get a bid, so its a specific type of guy.

btw, don't look at rushing houses just because of their rank. Sure, there are some houses you can discount just because they don't really mix with sororities and don't throw parties but try to get a feel of the guys in the house regardless of their rank. Some frats are bros, some are nice guys, some are preppy southern, some are more laid back. Unless you are similar to the guys in your fraternity, you are gonna be one of those brothers that is just kinda there, but not a strong part of the brotherhood.

If you are obsessed with being in a top frat, you aren't the type of kid who will be given a bid. You will be labeled a blowhard during open house because its easy to spot.

Top houses dirty rush the kids they want. Whether they are blowhards or not, and they narrow it down from there during 1st semester. often they will consider kids just because they are dirty rushed by other top houses, as there is always a small group being rushed by more than one. This is to say that blowhards get bids, and setting your sights on top houses does not necessarily make you a blowhard. If you come to this school and the only guys you know are in elmo and dke then its realistic to want to be in one of those houses
