by: supTiers really don't matter. Right now everyone is self-ranking because we're so close to the start of recruitment. Disregard what you read on this website and formulate your own opinions based on your experiences at each house. Entering rush with preconceived notions about certain sororities only makes your recruitment experience harder, especially if you gather your information from this site as it is not an accurate depiction of Greek Life at UVA. Please, go into rush with an open mind and don't stress yourselves out so much. I promise, YOU WILL fit in to at least one sorority. Though formal recruitment seems harsh and superficial, the system works out and almost everyone ends up happy. More than likely you'll find a house that is perfect for you, which is all that really matters.

I agree with this completely. I went in having been told about antiquated rankings and tiers and I initially overlooked some sororities that turned out to be my favorites later on. If you only think about the tiers, you won't be happy with where you end up. A "top tier" sorority could be the wrong fit for you, even if you get called back there, so just keep an open mind. If you like the sisters at any given sorority, the tier they fall under won't matter so much.

I disagree. The process is terrible. Each year we see amazing girls passed over because the other girls deemed they to not be pretty enough or fun enough. When you grow up you will realize that your superficial process harmed you too. You are missing out on some amazing women. You will learn that life is about much more than your looks that will fade, and the parties that served no purpose.

I completely agree with KT. Rush really is a superficial process with sisters picking PNMs based on looks, exciting winter break stories, and popular hobbies (i.e. sport teams). Shy or artsy girls are almost always overlooked because of this. As a past sister of a sorority, most "friendships" you make at a sorority mean close to nothing. In fact, a bunch of them probably hate you behind your back and don't have the guts to say it to your face. After graduation, it is all gone. So glad I quit before it's too late.

Excuse me, how about the legions of pnm's who only want to join certain sororities based on 'tiers' and 'rankings'? Right back at you with "You are missing out on some amazing women." Pnm's drop out of rush when they get cut by a handful of sororities but still have houses inviting them back who actually want them. They refuse to even give these houses a chance. Talk about superficial.
