where should i buy my rush outfits??

by:

I'm not really sure where I should buy my rush outfits for next year. I want to look cute and have a chance at a top tier or high middle tier sorority.

Any suggestions?? I want to start preparing now.

First off: relax. You do not need to be worrying about outfits now. If you're just looking for stores that have cute clothes then I could give a thousand answers, depends on your style. If you're asking what stores top and upper mid tiers want to see you wearing clothes from, stop. Do you really want to get into a sorority because of the clothes you wear?

I'd recommend a nice boutique that's unique and high-end, with not too many locations.

I'd avoid bigger chains like f21 and H&M just because they're noticeably cheap and poor quality.

I'd also probably avoid places like urban and free people, just because you're gonna see those same dresses on a lot of girls and they tend to air on the side of casual and revealing. However, these are way better than f21 or H&M.

Most importantly, I'd stay far far far away from Lilly. most actives wouldn't touch Lilly with a ten foot pole themselves (except for the planners lol), and you're 100% going to see the same Lilly dresses worn by lots of girls over the week, so you're better off without it. Lilly is expensive, and if you're gonna spend that kind of money on a dress, you should spend it on something unique that no one else is gonna wear. I know you think its the epitome of southern fashion, but trust me, just don't go there.

I'm an active and pretty involved in my chapter.

First, breath and relax. College is far away and since we rush in January, you have even more time.

Second, wear stuff you feel comfortable, snappy, and confident wearing. If you feel pretty, your confidence and personality will shine.

When you do pick out your outfits, wear something simple with a statement piece like a necklace or a scarf. It'll help us remember you (we take notes and vote, so we can write down green patterned scarf or cool necklace with stones in it, etc). Also talk with your friends about outfits, too.

Be outgoing and join new clubs in the fall, you can meet friends and you'll have less pressure when you rush!

Keep an open mind! One of the houses that's a typical "middle" house was my favorite during rush. They were so friendly and did a kick ass rush my year. Smile and enjoy rush, there isn't anything like it. Also don't take rush too seriously. It's just a sorority (and I'm involved and served as a chairwoman for my chapter).

What does "best locally owned boutique in my zipcode" even mean? Really. They research where you're from? wtf

Who does informal could surprise you. Some bottom tiers might not, some solid middle tiers might do it. It changes every year.

A good coach will set up a secret Pinterest for you to share style ideas.

Great idea but it costs extra

Why on earth would anyone spend money on a rush coach? The best part of Greek life by far is partying and brotherhood/sisterhood. Both of those can be enjoyed as a member of a variety of organizations in college or none at all.

Dress in what makes you feel good and is within the guidelines. Think more about sharing fun and interesting things about yourself
