lying about your sorority?

by:

hi guys. When someone transfers universities, how can they verify that they were actually affiliated with the sorority they say they were? I mean, if your new school doesn't have your chapter, what stops someone from saying they are in a new sorority/fraternity and just forging everything? One girl told me she did this when Phi Mu wasn't offered at her new school. She just bought a bunch of KD stuff and forged the form etc...

Wouldn't even think about it, so risky. UVA would definitely consider that an honor offense

Pretty sure the Honor Committee decided long ago that using fake identification is trivial - so not a honor offense.

Is lying about age to get alcohol okay because it's about alcohol?

We can verify a girl's national membership really easily. If she tries to affiliate and she's not a sister everyone would know and she would not be welcome at any house. Plus she would be in serious trouble with her initiated sorority and they would kick her out.

Using a fake idea is impersonating another person and is a HUGE offense. Much more so than cheating on homework. Are they (Honor) serious? It isn't trivial it's illegal. You can go to jail. You can not got to jail for the other.

from the alumni mag

"With prohibition lifted and state-run Alcoholic Beverage Control stores opening in Charlottesville, the Honor Committee agreed in September not to investigate any case in which a student under 21 lied about his age to buy alcohol. That ruling was reversed in 1955 and reversed yet again in 1969. At present, the Honor Committee does not take an official stance on whether the use of fake IDs by underage students to obtain alcohol constitutes an Honor offense. Such instances are handled on a case-by-case basis. While the Committee may investigate the use of fake IDs, it is highly unlikely that any charges would be brought."

OP posted this on numerous schools' greekrank sites. The whole idea of not getting caught if you try to lie to a sorority about being a member is ridiculous. OP is pretty stupid. If she actually were in a sorority she would know.

So lying in order to get alcohol is ok but lying about sorority gets you an honor trial?
