after rush

by: very worried

I'm a first year going through rush that just dropped out. All of my friends are going to accept a bid and I'm worried about how friendships change because of rush. Do first years stay friends with each other after rush or do they start only being friends with girls in their sorority?

You will stay friends with your friends. There are a lot of girls who drop out and life goes on. Greek life is not the be all and end all, trust me.

My roommate first year dropped out after philanthropy. She was so upset that her dad told her he'd give her the money to spend on entertainment, food, other activities. Let me tell you, she's doing more than fine. If my parents offered me the same deal I'd be tempted to take it! I love my sorority but it's a lot more expensive than people realize.

Girls drop out because:

Top tier >> Middle tier >> GDI >> Bottom tier

Don't worry, you will have plenty of friends. Think of the money you'll save!

That's not necessarily true, I dropped out of rush my first year with middle tier sororities. For a long of the girls that drop out it's more about not finding a place that fits. Someone could feel at home in a bottom tier sorority and not in a middle tier one

Right. If you dropped out what are you doing trolling GR? Just another bottom tier trying to convince girls they'll feel more "at home" at a bottom tier than a middle tier.

Only bottom tier girls feel at home in bottom tier sororitys.

I'm on here because I rushed again and joined a sorority that I didn't have left when I dropped the first time. I'm not trying to convince anyone to join a bottom tier sorority over a middle tier one, I'm just saying it's a personal decision and everyone's different. I know plenty of sorority women who focused more on where they fit in than rankings.

You probably won't find too many women who don't care about rankings on Greek RANK. I'm sure they're out there.

There's also still a lot of cuts to be done. I bet some of your frIends will also drop.

Cuts after house tours can be tough cuz you've been to the houses more and know more girls.

Your friends in sorority will have events to attend so they might not be available as much to you.

If you are real friends you will remain that way
